Made For Maine was written one fall day after a conversation with a few friends about their love/hate connection with this state. We are four season kind of people. We only like the heat for a couple months, love the fall colors, crisp fall days of apple picking, jumping in the leaves and wearing fun scarves. We still get gitty over the first snow knowing that the holidays are near, family time is near and ski season is approaching. Snowmobiling, ice skating and snowshoeing (Shawn loves to snowshoe tumbledown mountain each year) are all sports our family loves and looks forward to.However, there is the shoveling, snow blowing, getting stuck on the side of the road, ice covering the power lines, pools caving in due to the snow, Jack Frost in his naughtiness. Still, the beauty of spring brings hope of warm days, flowers, renewal, rebirth and relaxation of the gorgeous Maine summers. Our trips tp the Maine coast happen year round. The sound of the ocean is magical in sunshine or snow. There are few things I love more than watching the fireflies dance across my lawn or sit by the lake at sunset and listen to the loons. This song is a celebration of all those joys, with an acknowledgement that Jack Frost does try to throw us Mainers off here and there. But in the end, it helps us stay grateful, knowing that each day of sunshine should be fully enjoyed, each ski season fully explored, each foliage admired as the change of season is right around the corner and there is no guarantee what tomorrow will bring. It feels like the perfect song to have on your playlist to remember a great vacation, enjoy as you stay at the lake house, eat some lobster or drive to the beach. More to come...
