Mike P was born in New Orleans Louisiana, the second oldest of seven children. His father was a popular pastor in Bridge City, LA...and that's where Mike P began his singing career. As a youth Mike P ran into many altercations with the law and eventually found himself in the State penitentary. After being released from prison trouble still seemed to follow Mike as he was robbed and shot on a trip to Las Vegas. To make matters worse when he came home six months later, he was trapped by the Katrina floods and forced to leave his home with only the clothes on his back. At this lowest point in his life, Mike was drawn back to the faith. He began to write songs to express his desire for change. Change within himself and change in the world. He joined a church shortly after moving to Houston and began rebuilding his life. The more he poured his soul into his music the more people began to listen. They listened and they bought. They bought every homemade CD he made. He built a small following that literatley craved his gospel/R&B/new aged funk style of music that carried such a powerful message. He is a truly unique artist that you must hear to believe. His sound is modern with a catchy swing, his message is undeniable! Gospel music has never had someone who pushes the envelope and creates dynamic senarios from everyday life that everyone can relate to.
