Review written by Lia M.Jon Robert Quinn's album titled 1982 is a journey through his heart and soul. Listening to his passionate voice, which at times can be beautifully haunting, supported by his guitar alone, made me feel as though he was right there in the room with me. His rich voice and deeply personal message of sadness, regret and at the same time, hopefulness and joy are adeptly conveyed throughout the album. Love is a powerful force in all our lives, and his music captures the joy and the pain that love creates. I felt a connection to the words because they spoke to me in a way I truly related to. Jon Robert Quinn expresses the raw and sometimes bitterness of love that isn't easy to capture."Don't Want You Back" reminds me of how broken we can feel when love is destroyed. Still, I also felt the happiness and optimism in"Stay With Me" and"I'll Find My Way". It's an album that reminds me of how strong an individual moment can effect us. I find myself listening to 1982 because it has a relaxing effect on me. He keeps a very clear almost soothing tone throughout the album, which I like a lot. When you reach"Goodbye" the simplicity of the lyrics don't discount the powerful ending of a relationship. His voice is so particularly moving on that song. Jon Robert Quinn tells the story of his own love and loss of love with a unique voice. 1982 conveys all of the emotional highs and lows that love brings us, so beautifully and with so much feeling. Each time I listen, I am moved by the honesty that Jon Robert Quinn is able to express through his music.
