The Ian McMillan Orchestra is a meeting of words and music...poet Ian McMillan and composer Luke Carver Goss create a soundworld of stories, songs, memories, tales and the odd hurdy gurdy solo with the aid of a group of amazing musicians. There's something new here, something indefinable, something beyond the idea of poet intoning as the instruments noodle in the background.Listen in: you'll hear forgotten moments from history, excursions into deep dark woods and an iPod-disrupted trip on a cross-country train...'Music and words are the candlesticks that light up life's banqueting hall' as De Tropeville said in 1768.'The great words and music adventure continues with The Ian McMillan Orchestra's new CD! It's a great thrill to work with musicians who understand my language and give it new dimensions with musical languages of their own!' Ian McMillan'Homing In gathers together two years of writing and touring our unique blend of poetry, comedy and instrumental wizardry. We have numbers that range from humorous to poignant to angry. We also mark some new departures: I've written some of the words, and Ian sings some of them. It's also the first time our guitarist Dylan Fowler has been left in charge of an iPhone drum beat."
