You loved the Greek myths and the Norse sagas, and now you want Egypt — but every book you open reads like a museum placard, all fragments and footnotes, and you still can't say who Osiris was or why his brother killed him. This is Egyptian mythology told the way a story should be told. You start at the beginning, with the first mound of earth rising out of the dark water and the sun opening its eye for the first time. You follow the murder of Osiris and the long search of Isis, the bitter feud between Horus and Set for the throne of Egypt, and finally the soul's passage through the Duat, where the heart is weighed against the feather of Ma'at while Ammit waits. These are gods who bleed, scheme, grieve and fear dying. Press play at the first sunrise and let the Nile carry you all the way to the hall of judgement.
