"The Blackbird Chaos" is my second album, and certainly more musically, lyrically, and conceptually ambitious than my first album,"Too Much to Take"."The Blackbird Chaos" is a concept album about a boy whose strange dreams lead him to a desperate town at the edge of a forest. This town has been taken by what is referred to as The Blackbird Chaos: an evil, consumptive force which materializes itself in the form of blackbirds. The narrative follows the young boy as he attempts to use his musical ability to return hope to the waning town. He is assisted only by the mysterious"shadow of a man". The album contains twenty tracks, six of which are"narrative" tracks. The narrative tracks contain a voiceover which advances the plot of the cd. The other fourteen tracks are standard songs. While I did not write the fourteen songs with the blackbird plot in mind, the songs have been grouped according to theme/message and serve as a tool in the young man's attempt to destroy the enigmatic"chaos". There is an inherent dark nature to many of the songs on the album and a lyrical underbelly that is hard to miss. I hope that listening to this album makes you feel something: happiness, sadness, contempt, etc. Ultimately, it is meant to comment on the power of music, and its ability to transform a situation. It is also an album which believes that all living things have a dark side, and that it is okay to admit to the dark side as long as admittance is an effort to understand and handle the darkness. I have always embraced my dark side, for better or worse, and I hope that listening to this album, helps you face yours.
