This album took way too long to happen. Anything Could Happen came out in January 2008 and most of the songs for The Open Road were written shortly thereafter as Sauni's Big Jump played shows that year. However, the timing was never right for the group to work on the project. Finally, in August 2011, with a month off from grad school, I drove to Austin to begin recording drums with David Barnes. By the time Ireturned to LA for school in September, the principal recording for the Open Road had been done. However, it took much longer to finish the various missing parts, to mix, and to get the album ready for distribution than I anticipated... but here it is! The Open Road has eight songs and three short tracks that I think add to understanding the album as a whole. Many of the songs are songs that we used to play in concert, but a few might be new even to our greatest fans. We hope you like it... I hope you like it. If you like it enough, tell a friend.
