In the world of jazz organ, the Hammond reigns supreme. Mook Loxley has created a CD of original cool, funky and swingin' pieces, in the style of the master Jimmy Smith, as well as offering his rendition of such classics as"Mojo Workin","I Got A Woman" (ala Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff), and"Blues For J." On the more modern side Mook also covers Rihanna's"Umbrella" in a way that threads the needle between vintage Hammond, and more modern Hip Hop. Accompanied by the stellar Gene Pino, on guitar, and Marcus Mc Laurine playing upright bass on a few numbers (to augment the pedals on other tracks), this CD will be appreciated by people who just want to get up and move... those who appreciate fine musicianship...and of course the magical sound of the Hammond Organ.
