This album was influenced by minimalism, particularly the style of propulsive repetition demonstrated by composers like Michael Nyman. Some of the individual compositions borrow a few measures from classical composers; this is most evident in Margrave (which as the name suggests uses a line from the Brandenberg Concertos) and The Bach Saloon (which borrows from an orchestral suite by Bach, transposed for the piano).
