"Almost There" is very hard to classify because I allowed in a great variety of song styles. It's easiest to list a brief description of each song by style and influences. Almost all of the songs feature carefully layered vocals and interesting harmony singing. A unique feature is that I played or programmed all the instruments!1) Power pop/rock with a little Brit pop, a little Beach Boys and a strong political message2) Pop with a touch of Americana and a little spirituality3) Acoustic Folk-spiritual4) Techno-style, influenced by Madonna5) Retro dance/disco pop (written long before I heard CeeLo)6) Country somewhat in the style of Tim McGraw or Rascal Flatts7) Romantic pop a little like George Harrison or Moody Blues8) Latin beat pop/rock influenced by Joan Armatrading9) Beatlesque pop/rock10) Sentimental piano power ballad influenced by Ian Hunter11) Beach'y pop/rock influenced by the Moody BluesSpecial thanks to the amazing Emily McIntosh who you will hear doing tons of amazing vocals and who also recorded and mixed all the vocals as well as mastering this record with me.
