Welcome to the third collection of “Soundtracks” which is why it is cleverly called Soundtracks III. Now that we’ve established that, here are some interesting facts about some of the songs. For instance, the idea for writing “Chimes” came from a sound that I recorded from an old gravel sifter that is leaning against a tree across the road from my house. Strange as it may seem, the tune for “September in Michigan” came into my head while we driving in southwestern Michigan...in September. And “Squeaky the Wheel” was built around the sound of an empty dish liquid bottle. “Inside the Nebula” was inspired by my love of vintage sci-fi space movies. The song “Adams” is named for my friend and long-time musical partner Scott B. Adams, very much in the style of the music that we used to produce together. “Alabama Moon” is a tribute to the very early Hawaiian guitarist Frank Ferera, who recorded his version of this song by George Hamilton Green for Victor Records in 1920.The point is that inspiration is everywhere. We are told, “Seek and you will find,” and if you pay close enough attention you will find stimulation for your imagination anywhere you look. Honest.
