I went back to Maysville, GA, where I recorded 3 of my first 4 albums, and made an acoustic album with my pianist, friend, and mentor, Lee Davis. It was much like back in the day. I just went in with my guitar and sang a bunch of songs I made up. I took the best of those performances, threw in a few of my older, unreleased acoustic tracks from Lee's archives and found myself with a 13 song album that I'm quite pleased with."Maysville in the Meantime" is the most stripped-down, raw album I've released since my very first record, Undertones. Although I love the energy exchange that occurs when performing with other musicians and am very proud of how my band and our sound has evolved over the years, it was very nice to go back in the studio with the goal of simply capturing the songs in their most intimate and stripped-down form. I have a feeling fans are going to be pleased with the results and I can hardly wait until December 2 to start getting the feedback.
