SOUNDS OF AFRIKA is a family troupe that boasts 3 generations of drummers. The artists have studied and performed throughout the U.S., Caribbean and West Africa. SOUNDS OF AFRIKA has a unique sound that is rooted in spirituality and healing. The troupe consists of artists that are well versed in drumming, dance and theatre. From the beginning to the end of the CD, you feel SOA’s intentions of creating an atmosphere filled with movement and spiritual essence. SOA’s “From The Shores” CD includes traditional West African rhythms and songs while exploring the troupe’s own creativity by putting out original compositions inspired by the African Diaspora experience. The title track clearly conveys an important message to the listener that music is not just music, but an experience.
