Influenced by the music of artists like Sade, Sting, Bebel Gilberto, Emily King, India.Aire, Norah Jones & Jamiroquai, this chanteuse’s musical and songwriting pursuits embrace a variety of genres. Though her influences are many, her singular vocal talent is hard to miss. She can purr at the microphone, but there’s an underlying vocal power there. A presence that has unfolded through the friendship and collaborative writing efforts of this four piece band: Akie Bermiss -- keys/vocals -- Bard graduate, unrepentant musician, venerated frontman for his Brooklyn based original projects: Aabaraki and abT (Akie Bermiss Trio), self-avowed super-nerd, and coffee champion.Anthony Candullo -- bass -- Berklee graduate, also plays guitar, drums, and various self-made instruments. In addition to playing with beloved NY acts Live Society, Gil Paris, and Myles Mancuso, he has worked with internationally known musicians like bluesman Tad Robinson, and Yonrico Scott (the Derek Trucks Band). Other interests include photography, taking things apart and putting them back together, and coffee...lots of coffee.Erik Perez -- drums -- An esteemed musician for his work with Jazz/Pop greats Bob Baldwin, Marion Meadows, Porter Carroll Jr. and Live Society. The first stepping stone of this project was Erik Perez' introduction of Natalie to Porter Carroll Jr. (founder of R&B sensation Atlantic Starr, current percussionist for Daryl Hall & John Oates). Carroll, would oversee the development of the project. Someone who not only had commercial success, but someone who could offer his expertise and guidance with artistic and personal integrity. In search for the right producer, Carroll happened to stumble on an opportunity while touring with Hall & Oates. H&O drummer, Brian Dunne, and Carroll on a night off go to check out a band on Dunne's recommendation ("you have to see this band," he says). The band was Snarky Puppy, who happened to win a Grammy that year. Dunne being a good friend of Michael League, SP's band leader, introduces him to his new fan (Carroll).Through the exchange of emails, calls, and texts, a seed is planted discussing the possibility of League producing an EP for Natalie. It wasn't until Carroll was in Europe touring with H&O, that Carroll and League run into each other at a festival and seal the deal. Dates are set for recording, at the Loft Recording Studios in Bronxville, New York, to be engineered by Al Hemberger (Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson). Two songs are recorded in July of 2014, and two more in December. And anyone who's seen Snarky Puppy's tour schedule knows the miracle that is. To add to the splendor, two other SP members, Nate Werth (percussion) and Bob Lanzetti (guitar) join the sessions. The collaboration, with effortless camaraderie is a success.Though the trajectory of this artist has yet to be revealed, Natalie and her comrades are faithful to the art of music: keep writing, recording and touring.
