Are these songs spiritual? Yes, that’s as good a word as any. These songs speak to an essence, a possibility in the human being, that is common to all of us, religious or not. They are personal prayers—a call and response between a human heart and the Great Heart of existence.I am often touched and slightly amused when people assume these songs are about a relationship with another person. That’s fine. There is a Sufi saying that it doesn’t matter if you love a person or love God; as long as you love enough.The songs on this CD were written over a period of several years.
