Pink Balloon is an acoustic album. I recorded the songs in 2011. They reflect a year or two of very hard work, tweaking the voice leading on the acoustic guitar to perfection. The songs have lives of their own and can be traced to folksy Cat Stevens-esque roots, along with bluegrass flat picking at times, and at times, finger picking in the folk tradition with more complex, lush, and at times dissonant harmony. The vocals are pretty straight forward melodically, but the lyrics can be ambiguous at times and open to interpretation. On this particular album, the focus is really on the melody and harmony rather than lyrical content at times. However, there are songs easily followed in a linear storyline, or a whimsical thought process like the title track.
