For the last twenty years Costa Rica has undergone a positive cultural process, which made possible the emergence of solid and far-reaching projects, especially in the realm of the arts. In spite of this promising horizon, Costa Rican modern arts forms, groups and leading artists have not been given yet a space in the world's cultural scene. This is comprehensible, inasmuch as protagonism belongs to historic markets and strong profiled national identities. Besides that, Costa Rica lacks a systematic international promotion of its artists. Nevertheless, we have now the opportunity and are very pleased to share with you this professional music project: Swing en 4.After some eight years performing and recording together, occasionally sharing the stage with outstanding musicians, our quartet presents a live recorded concert at Jazz Café in San José, Costa Rica in the last third of 2004. Our first compact disc titled Orígenes brought us already contentment and encouraging reviews inland and abroad. This album is the result of countless hours of rehearsals, discussions, meetings, individual practice, composition and arranging, including weekend sessions in a friend's hut by chilly weather at the foothill of Irazu Volcano.
