Marred Fame (the"nom de guerre" of Marthame Sanders) is a recording project steeped in soulful reflection, exploring political themes of power and place, of life and death. Marred Fame's debut"Preachy" splits neatly down the middle, with its six songs each recorded twice, in two different versions. In the first half, the songs are filtered through loud guitar that teeters on the edge of explosion. In the second half, the same tunes are brought to life in their stripped down acoustic origins. The lyrics are a commentary on the fear that finds voice in unrepentant racism and greed, with each version bringing its own accent and subtlety to the themes.
