Here’s how it all came together:The rhythm section and lead vocals were recorded live by Rich Eames at Palm Mountain Recording.With one prior rehearsal, the guys (Philip, Dennis, Neal) and I recorded 13 songs in 13 hourI figured if the Beatles recorded their first album with 12 songs in 12 hours, we could do the same...At Big Toe Studios I recorded Lee Thornburg playing an exquisite Flugelhorn part on “My Mother’s Voice” and Milton Nelson delicate string arrangement captured the song’s essence.Elle, Jonathan, Karen and Michael came in to sing background vocals on certain songs and Wes arrived to record and mix all of the guitar overdubs, shakers, my background vocals and the lighting of the final match on “Rainbows in Gasoline”. Mixing was accomplished in consecutive marathon sessions by myself and Wes. The final mixes were delivered to Marty for mastering just"under the wire".
