For those not yet familiar with the band, Chimp Change plays a high-octane brand of pop-infused skate punk that harkens back to vintage Strung Out, Jim Cherry era Pulley and Cock Rock-style Diesel Boy. Everything about this four piece’s sound is full throttle. Dueling guitar leads and chunky power chords, rock-steady drums and thundering basslines keep the pedal pinned to the floor, providing the perfect backdrop for the dueling vocalists (think Mark and Tom of “Cheshire Cat” era Blink 182) to tell their booze-filled tales of frustration, isolation, and living like there’s no tomorrow.
