This is the first collection of songs that were mostly inspired by the yet to be released film,"While The Emperor Sleeps". We chose to separate the entire collection of songs into two CDs, hoping to achieve a more cohesive flow. The last days I spent with my mother inspired"Return To Upper Darby", her birthplace in Pennsylvania, and"Ascension Of The Owl", as she had a small collection of owl figurines. There is simply not enough room to list all of our influences over the years. But this time, I made it a point to mention underrated artists like Burt Bacharach or seemingly forgotten artists like Sly and the Family Stone."Mr. Keys" was inspired by my junior high school assistant principal from the seventies. Currently, Thomas Bergersen, and Hans Zimmer have our attention as well as upcoming artists like Roger Subriana. But we are also fans of Snarky Puppy and Funky Knuckles. Stay tuned for part two of this collection,"While The Emperor Sleeps". It is more suitable for the film.
