The Town Runner EP whets the appetite for Make Sure’s forthcoming full-length LP. It gives a little taste of how singer-songwriter Josh Jackson has developed since he released Fiery Crash’s last album, In Clover, in 2014. All the elements that made Fiery Crash work are still present here: the precocious layers, the earnest baritone, the meek lyrics, the hazy effects, and the luscious tones. But added to them is an extra depth and dimension. Perhaps it is the openness to collaboration that comes with working on an album with a full band. Perhaps it is just the passing of the years. One thing is for sure, Make Sure means Josh Jackson is coming into his own.
