For Shore’s Master’s degree, Dan opted for a creative project thesis, as opposed to a traditional written one. He arrived at the conclusion to compose a largely sample-based musical album. The fruits of his labour were compiled into the LP Biscuits & Logistics Volume 0: The Medulla Oblongata (2011). The album showcases Shore’s record collection of over 2,000 hours of music, split between digital and vinyl formats. It also incorporates various “advanced dynamics processing” production techniques, such as: pumping, side-chain pumping, ducking, ducked delay lines, among others. The Medulla Oblongata was pieced together using Apple’s renowned recording software, Logic, and took approximately one year to realize in its entirety. Look out for dBiscuits’ upcoming EP, which will follow up his 2011 release, The Medulla Oblongata.
