Rockabilly was the name given by American trade papers between 1956 and 1959 to describe a new kind of music. Ingredients of this exciting new strain that had sprung up seemingly overnight were a slapped upright bass, a frantically strummed acoustic rhythm guitar and electric guitar with a bluesy edge.
