The album you hold is the result of eight years of hard work. We've written many songs over that time, some have faded away and been forgotten while others have become our favourites to play and those tunes have made it onto this recording. So too, have members come and gone over the years but the five core members of Kutapira remain the same and we are grateful for the musical contributions of all those who have brought their talent and energy to this group.We did not crowdsource to fund this project. Rather we raised the funds on the street, selling albums and collecting tips in downtown Vancouver. Since 2008, busking has become a large part of the bands identity. Playing our music for free in public spaces and relying on the genorosity of the public, connecting with people through music, making new friends and fans of all ages and seeing people break out into dance... it's a wonderful thing and we hope to continue this work for many summers to come.
