Allan's deeply personal folk-and-roots-rock songs are capable of moving listeners beyond anything that their simple, even slightly awkward lyrics might suggest. His voice seems almost accidentally to boast the kind of direct , conversational tone that reveals every line as the unapologetic truth, and his unpretentious delivery is arresting. Maverick UK
