Many of us dream about ditching our daily grind and relocating to a remote tropical island where all our cares and worries disappear. While we may not be able to go to paradise at a moment’s notice, Micro family’s debut album offers us a little taste of an island paradise. The Island Warrior EP is an eclectic mix of island melodies with simple hip hop drum patterns and enough skank to feel the group’s reggae influence. The album includes the Step by Step Riddim composed by Rumble Rock Recordz along with a remastered cut of the group’s 2012 hit single, “Roots on Fire.” The group’s next single, “Island Warrior,” is an island club banger infused with dub step elements to create a truly unique and cutting edge sound.Pacific Island Reggae and Hip Hop are on the rise and the group is definitely a part of the larger urban island movement that stretches across the globe from New Zealand to California. This four piece group is primarily located in Pohnpei, Micronesia. While the band has connections in California and Hawaii, many of the group members were unable to be a part of a tour schedule in 2013 which led to the decision to release an EP at this time. Plans are being made for the group to be on the West Coast next summer for the release of their full length studio album along with a tour stretching up the West Coast and back across the Pacific.
