Alt rock done right. Tight hooks, trademark Zeitgeist harmonies and meaty lyrical themes, with big beats and an occasional retro vibe. Just Like Myself will find a home on the pop charts, and Let Your Freak Flag Fly is destined to be an anthem. Move the Needle is reminiscent of Rage (hide the kids), but with a hip-hop sly kit kicking your fillings loose. The Chairman channeled Maynard for Fixtures and Firmament. Arrival is campy pop-rock, but you'll probably sing along. Anywhere But Here has trance-like guitars and a killer bass groove, topped with the vocal harmonies you've come to expect. Brave New 1984 has dystopian lyrics riding atop an earworm of a guitar hook and a swinging beat. Lots of production value, great hooks, and lyrics for grown-ups make Chairman Zeitgeist's third album a great buy.
