C.T. Freeman records new album with renowned Nashville Producer, Dick McVey and a stellar array of veteran studio and backup musicians. I'll Be Coming Home is a return to C.T.'s musical roots and a journey through his musical evolution. A song cycle from folk to classical. C.T. Freeman was quietly teaching guitar and Argentine Tango in Shenzhen, China, when a chance online encounter with one of his childhood idols, Steve Weisberg, former lead guitar player from the John Denver Band, encouraged him to come back to the US for one more try at music in the US. Steve related to C.T.'s music, and agreed to play lead guitar and dobro on the sessions. “How could I turn down a chance to play with Steve Weisberg?” - C.T.Upon returning to the U.S., C.T. contacted long time friend / Producer Dick McVey and asked him to put together a session band in Nashville to play on the project. We knew we wanted a stand up bass player, so Dick asked Dave Roe, former bass player for Johnny Cash to join us. We got Eddy Anderson on drums/percussion, Tommy White on pedal steel guitar, Mike Lusk (backup singer for Loretta Lynn) and Netha Larsen on back up vocals, and Chris Nole (John Denver's last pianist) on piano. We got Mike Baker on guitar, Charlie Vaughn on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and Al Babyok did the orchestral arrangements (and is also a fine pianist). John Heinrich, Ronnie Milsap's saxophone player, blew up a storm on sax and flute. After getting the bass, drums, guitar, vocals tracks down in Nashville, CT flew to Dallas, Texas to get Steve Weisberg's lead guitar and dobro tracks down at Palmyra Studios in Palmer TX, just South of Dallas. “It was an honor to be in the studio with Steve on one of his last sessions. Of course I had to record a few John Denver cover songs.....but licensing them has slowed down the release,” notes C.T. BMG Chrysalis rights management and the John Denver Estate were not thrilled with C.T.'s idea to sing Perhaps Love in Italian, and finally it had to be cut from this album due to the licensing issue.
