Throughout his years in Minneapolis, Max has been frustrated with the dichotomy between jazz tradition and other contemporary forms of music (pop/rock, electronica, etc.). As a response, his debut album (Live As We Dream) seeks to reconcile these segregated elements. Max has expanded the role of the saxophone by using effects and loops to create unique sounds and textures not often heard anywhere else. By recording at Humans Win! studio (a few houses down from his childhood home), Max was also able to achieve an expanded variety of colors for his trio. Live As We Dream is a promising debut.
