Heather Pace, Madison Brown and Colleen Trenwith met at East Tennessee State University, and formed the Poor Valley Girls because of a common love for the Carter Family music, and such musicians as Hazel Dickens, Laura Boosinger, and Ginny Hawker. They love to sing in three part harmony and achieve a tight, warm, heart-rending sound that brings to the listener the heart and soul of Poor Valley (the home of the Carter Family Fold) itself. They excel on their old time instruments. The sounds of the fiddle, autoharp, guitar and claw hammer banjo are featured throughout the CD.
