With influences drawn from a wide scope, Rick Dempsey's music explores the sounds of Europe and California with the rural wisdom of the American Midwest. A broad but short list of personal favourites would include bands such as Duran Duran, KMFDM, Jane's Addiction and Dead Can Dance as well as artists Leonard Cohen, Iggy Pop, Bob Marley, and composer Ricard Wagner. The imagination and the conflict can be heard in his music. Rick is a musician first, but his lyrics and arrangements reflect the ideas of a philosopher who lives music. Having deeply considered views about life and human nature, Rick tends to apply a message or at the least a reflection within an arousing and energetic musical vehicle. A sense of purpose prevails throughout the repetoir without losing the simple pleasures of sound and poetry. Today Rick Dempsey is an artist and a student, discovering new passions around each turn. Eclecticity Vol. Duva is the second selection of tracks from Rick's first collection, available at CD Baby.
