This compilation of recordings span a period of six years from 2006, (the album 'Moods From The Latin Quarter') to my most recent recording in 2012, of Queen's 'Love Of My Life', to mark Valentine's day. Over the years, the pieces on this album have become a regular feature of recitals that are romantically themed; the album was finally put together prior to a series of recitals in Spain, in early 2012.At first glance, a reworking of a piece by Ozzy Osbourne and Freddie Mercury (of Queen fame) may seem unusual inclusions alongside such well established guitar composers such as de Falla, Barrios, Tárrega and even the lutenist / composer Weiss - but their successful translation to the romantic idiom of the Spanish guitar can perhaps be attributed to Mercury's classical training and Randy Rhoads' own reworking of Cuban Composer Leo Brouwer's 'Etude No. 6' (from Etudes Simples) - which forms the backbone of the Ozzy Osbourne song 'Diary Of A Madman' (of which my piece 'Madman Fantasy' is based upon). My own compositions 'Oscar' and 'The Longing' have their own story. 'Oscar', a lullaby, is written in the tradition of the Latin American music of the early to mid twentieth century and was composed for a friend's newly born son, whilst 'The Longing' is a tribute to the improvisatory music of the great flamenco masters such as Juan Martin, Paco Peña and Paco de Lucia.
