With his sophomore release, Nicholas Angustain exhibits growth in his production style for a more cohesive and quite entrancing album. The mood of the music throughout is set from the Intro down to the Outro, somber. Even the titles of the tracks suggest what state of mind and creative space he was in during the recording process. The tracks come at you with an urgency you just can't deny. They are at times filled with both panic and tranquility which is indeed a welcoming experience. Tracks like"Doomsday (No Salvation)" and"Melancholy's Theme" both emit such a beautiful sadness that when listening to them, you can almost see the end of the world approaching."F.T.W. (D.A.M.4.S.)" and"Anxiety Attack Pt. 1" are two of his most eerie and tense offerings on this project worthy of an appearance in a horror flick. Once again showing love for his San Fernando Valley upbringing he has"Valleyfornia, U.S.A." easily the lightest and funkiest track on the album. Melted Crayons, Vol. 1 is a further confirmation that creativity is alive.
