"What a fantastic release from Repression!" -Rose Jones, The Daily Utah Chronicle. David Mathison and Dylan Martin teamed up after meeting at a music festival in Moab, Utah in 2011. While attending the festival they realized that they were actually neighbors three hours away in the Historic Avenues district of Salt Lake City, Utah. After many Jam sessions At"Church in the Mountains" aka David's small one bedroom apartment, and many more during a short time at Dave's rented kitchen used to cook boiled peanuts for his Farmers Market business at which time the pair called themselves,"Dave, Dylan, and the Goober Peas" goober peas being another name for boiled peanuts. When a friend asked Dave and Dylan what they called themselves, Dylan replied,"Modern Oldtime" referring to the genre of music he thought they sounded like at which time the name stuck. In the summer of 2013 the pair were introduced to Aaron"Knute" Peterson by a friend in the Avenues. At the time, Aaron was working at Jack Mormon Coffee company, and producing music of his own, and offered his production skills, trumpet workmanship and high inviting background vocals to complete the sound known today as Modern Oldtime. This self-titled debut album lyrically touches on a personal yet relatable level. With songs about Loving and Living Positively in the NOW, as well as songs touching on Illegal immigration, Guerrilla Gardening and the OCCUPY Movement.
