Daniel Land's riverrun project is a series of heavily-composted landscape recordings, that he has been working on for nearly two decades in parallel to his songs. The name riverrun comes from the first sentence of James Joyce's novel 'Finnegan's Wake', and the music is as dark and mysterious as that novel - taking its cue from musique concrète, or Brian Eno's 'On Land', riverrun's music painstakingly-layers field recordings and reprocessed studio tracks into a deeply nostalgic exploration of geography and memory. The music of riverrun has been praised by Headphone Commute, Drowned In Sound, Losing Today, High Voltage, and is worth checking out for any fans of deep, dark ambient music - or indeed, as the graphic novelist Warren Ellis put it, anyone looking for"Something foggily comforting for the forebrain".
