The Rowland Brothers have been doing amazing rock music"under the radar" for going on 20 years now. And even though they are not a"household commodity" it seems like that may just be a matter of time ... reason being, their stuff rocks! It's rich. It sounds amazing ... and the songs definitely have some beef! The reason we don't hear much about these guys is they have split much of their"recording-artist lives" off with other pursuits. Okay... distractions. Brothers Henry and Phil were"offline" for nine years building software for a music company that eventually got bought by investors in South Africa. All the while they kept writing and recording and building a repertoire of tasty material that is now slowly making its way to iTunes (and the various other digital platforms) via CD Baby. During that time they stopped performing live, and are only just now getting their show back on the road.In all they have recorded five albums and/or EPs since 1997, three of which sat on the shelf until this year (2012) when a private investor said"time's a wasting, guys ... we 've got to put this stuff out now!" The fifth album is in production at this moment and scheduled to be out this fall. This release is interesting in that it represents the act's early inception. In 1997, when the Rowland Brothers produced this EP they were actually performing gigs in Colorado as"The Bees". They released a few CDR albums as such, but when it was clear that the other members of the band were busy either"getting married","finding jobs" or"going back to school." They looked at each other and decided"let's just call this what it is ... and what it will remain as long as WE are alive... The Rowland Brothers!"So here it is--the debut EP by the Rowland Brothers--entitled"The Missing Link." We're not quite sure what link is missing... but I guess we'll find out later. If you like this release you will no doubt like the four other four as well--as they just seem to be getting better and better with time!--Regis DeCastelburg 11/11/2011 excerpt from Paris Rock Files
