The album title, The SUN That Was, features"SUN" in capitals — not only representing the warm sun, but also the Thai name I used while studying in Thailand.After graduating from university, I embarked on my journey in music arrangement and wrote my very first instrumental piece, Sun of the Past, on the ukulele. Years later, I have rearranged that very melody and woven it into this album. The creative origin is quite remarkable, my close Thai friend I hadn't seen for twelve years came to Shanghai for a trip and dropped by to see me. Our reunion felt as if no time had passed at all, and it reawakened the long-dormant name —"SUN." One week after my friend returned to Thailand, I officially began recording this album. While looking through our photos together, inspiration struck, and I finally decided to title the album after the track: The SUN That Was.Most of the works on this album originated from compositions I wrote in my twenties. Now, they have been re-arranged and newly recorded, blending diverse genres such as R&B, vapor-wave, tropical house, dream folk, electronic, and hip-hop. You hide your emotions deliberately in the daytime, yet get touched by melodies and memories late at night. Rereading old messages and writing letters, the endless longing ticks along with time. Every wax and wane of the moon bears uncontrollable deep affection and yearning.Track 6: <阳光小镇> The melody is inspired by an Indian soap commercial watched on television in childhood. This brisk and ethereal dream folk with nursery rhyme style, accompanied by casual humming lines, depicts the pure innocence that adults yearn for. Let go of worldly trivialities and exhaustion here, embrace free joy, and relax your body and mind completely in the gentle rhythm.Track 7: A childhood melody tells a grown-up story. Time may take away our youth, but thankfully, a warm little town still remains in my heart. This piece, written back in 2014 when I was just learning to arrange music, has been rearranged — and in it, I've found a home for all the emotions I've felt since stepping into the adult world.Track 8: <海风吹> This tropical house track opens up a spiritual journey. The rhythmic grooves turn into gentle sea breezes, sweeping away all inner depression and trivial troubles. Life is meant to pursue freedom, embrace joy, and experience diverse landscapes. I have integrated all my enthusiasm and expectations for life into this song.Track 9: <蒸蒸时光>That grainy, old-time childhood holds all the wounds and never-absent love. Looking back through the soft, hazy filter of time, I see the little me who has walked all the way here and finally grown up.Track 10: Past warm sunshine echoes the original aspiration. This is my very first melody created in 2014. After more than a decade of tempering by time, it has been rearranged and reinterpreted with brand-new emotions.
