D’AngelicPoetess was born and raised in the heart of Washington, DC. She started her venture in writing in the Mid 90’s. She was focused more on an avenue to vent then anything poetic. As time progressed she evolved more and more into writing poems and short stories. Her writing was more rhythmic then prose she preferred the rhythm in her pieces. She began sharing her work with family and friends that appreciated her pen and encouraged her to do more with it. Seeing that her work had a purpose and help those around her she sought out to bring her work to the fore front. In the early 2000’s she began to post work on a social site blackplanet.com. There she created a forum for writers like herself to express and share their work. The group was called “Black Woman Poetry”. D’AngelicPoetess began performing locally around the DMV area. Some spots she performed were Verbal Assaults, R Street Speaks Open MIC, and Spit Dat Open MIC, The @ttic, and Poetry situations…Not yet satisfied to where poetry stands to the public D’Angelicpoetess began diligently looking for other avenues to be heard. She relocated to Raleigh, NC in 2007 and founded “The oRiGiNaL Poetry after Dark” through “BlogtalkRadio”. She began hosting the show the summer of 2008. D’AngelicPoetess (formerly known as MissPoeticDee) opened up a brand new cipher in the poetry movement. She saw this as endless possibilities in mastering the art form of poetry. The radio show brought numerous poets to the fore front and the art was heard globally. Here D’angelicPoetess began mastering her form in the spoken word. D’AngelicPoetess writing changed at that point she began writing to be HEARD. She no longer struggled with trying to keep her pieces rhyming, she just wrote. In 2009 she completed her 1st poetry book “Elements of Love & Drama” a collection of pieces dated back to the early 90’s. D’AngelicPoetess also complimented that book with a CD titled “In the Mind of Miss Dee” a few chosen pieces from the book. D’AngelicPoetess was looked at as tenacious and that she was with the show and new book and cd on her hands she felt as if she played her part of brining her passion out publicly. In the mist of hosting she has had many poets grace her MIC, such as Tshombe, Dl Davis, NXT LVL, Sun of Man, Max Parthas, Talaam Acey, Shannelle Gabriel, Marc Marcel and so many others along the way. D’AngelicPoetess has been featured on DeAssassins Lounge w/ the Hit-man & Sun of Man, Poetic Gestures Radio, The Poetic Uprising Show and up close and personal with EazyStar’s Variety Society TV SHOW. Her ultimate goal is to have poetry on main-stream for the furthering of the WRITTEN. D’AngelicPoetess current projects are an autobiography titled “As the Days End” & her CD D.A.P Diamonds and Pearls Poetic Jewels An Anthology of a Poetess. Book set to release in early 2013 and the CD this spring March 30th.
