This has been a long time coming. It has been a journey of 10 years from Matt's first EP up to now, the release of Nature. The songs are a history of the last 10 years. They represent a grand journey of healing and connection to the heart. Each song has roots in Matt's own personal experience but they all relate to human experience, to being able to rise above pain and move into a place of healing. In one sense, they are a biological alchemy, a transforming of heavyness into golden experience. At the very least, they were and are a cathartic experience to write. A release of pressure to be able to translate clouds into words. The songs are a message of hope, speaking directly to our hearts to embrace possibility and change, to awaken our inner spirits and return to our true nature. The album was recorded in a rickety shed down a dusty track in Tarifa, the most southern tip of mainland Europe. When it rained, the water would drip through the ceiling, threatening the safety of the musical equipment scattered through the rehearsal rooms. The studio shed rattled in the wind but on a fine day in Spring, the birds would sing with force as the blossom and wild flowers billowed scent through the windows.Nature was on all sides, in all forms as the tracks were put together. An album is a big undertaking, a journey of the soul, the creative spirit and the emotions. Sometimes it is easy, sometimes hard... always it is a journey. Here is my journey. My songs. My creativity.
