Mondu Udu is an album that sees Ira Black and Lamont Arthur coming together to creat an eclectic blend of improvisational music. Produced, arranged, and envisioned by Lamont this music features an African instrument called the Udu, various types of percussion, keyboards and the Native American Flute (NAF). One song of note is the hauntingly beautiful"Cry Of The She Wolf" which showcases Ira's mastery of the NAF. This music can be very relaxing as well as thought provoking and is guaranteed to take you to places in your mind that you've never been.Ira Black is an ex-paratrooper, writer, photographer, and publisher who became enamored with jazz, doo wop, blues and modern orchestral music at an early age. Following a move from the East Coast to the Southwest, he fell in love with NAF music and the unique sound of the Udu both of which he plays masterfully on this album. Lamont Arthur is a long-time jazz keyboardist and vocalist with a flair for anything percussion as well as an abiding interest in the recording arts. Originally from Panama he currently lives in Sierra Vista, AZ where he works steadily. He also works regularly with various jazz groups in the Tucson area as well. Mondu Udu is his latest album release, one of several he has produced and arranged.
