What happens when you lock a DJ who is into electro & trance and a singer songwriter whose favourites are Queen, the Rolling Stones and David Bowie in a room together? Either they get at each other's throat or start making wonderful music together. That's what happened when the two core members of rabbitinabar first met. Thomas Weller and Hausente started creating various kinds of music together, using ingredients such as Electro, Drum'n'Bass or TripHop on the one hand side and guitars and classic songs on the other. They formed the first “laptop” band in their area confusing people as they believed the duo just to be lip-syncing. This lead to an interest in live visuals, because audiences “want something to see” as Weller put it. Soon, more and more people wanted live visuals and thus he focused on creating visuals while Hausente concentrated on his DJing skills. Plus, everyday life took over. After a long hiatus from making music, Weller realised that there was something missing – creating art which possesses the power to make people sing, laugh or even cry. Furthermore, the sense of “we against the world” that bands need to have to get their music out there, let them join forces once again. They came together and started writing songs, recording and producing, and they loved it! They were just short of a name. One evening, Hausente incessantly tried to tell a joke, messing up the punchline each and every time. Nobody remembers the actual joke anymore, but it was something about a rabbit who walked into a bar – hence rabbitinabar was born, along with their mascot J.R. (Jolly Roger), a rabbit with cross-carrots.Their album"take this" is their first effort and fuses Rock, Metal, Electro, Drum'n'Bass, TripHop and even DubStep with classic songwriting and lyrics that are a lot deeper than most music you will hear on the radio. Personal experiences from growing up, falling in and out of love, personal loss and even politics are the foundation for rabbitinabar's lyrics.
