Skulpey consists of Heather Mount (vocals, guitar, bass) and Matthew Covey (vocals, guitar, bass), and Palo Chalupka (drums) and was formed initially in Trencin, Slovakia in 1993. Heather and Matthew are musicians from Oberlin College who spent time in a teaching residency in Trencin, where they met drummer Palo and became part of a rapidly growing independent music scene in Eastern and Central. Europe. Skulpey moved to Dublin then settled back in New York City by the end of the 90's, having recorded one album,"Liz," which is pronounced"leezh" and means"lick" hence the dog on the album cover, which was recorded in Slovakia by Minneapolis producer, Tom Herbers (Soul Asylum, Low, Jay Hawks, Andrew Bird...). Their second album,"The Chopper" was recorded in the East Village by Robert Poss (Band of Susans).
