I am a professional Jazz musician and composer. I use my own past influences to inform the music I create today. I am heavily influenced by Jazz greats such as Wes Montgomery, Horace Silver, Pat Metheny, and of course Miles and Coltrane. I also have an affinity for hip hop and rap music and feel it is this generations manifestation of Jazz in 'word' form. Contemporary Jazz is where I seem to fit in because I never did learn to 'spit' words but I can improvise notes! Other 'new school' influences include Daft Punk, Pharrell Willams, Dirty Loops, and Christian Scott. The Musicians I have worked with over the years range from border patrol agents to music store owners. Bottom line for choosing musicians:"can you read music?". With a busy life as a teacher and a family at home, I don't have time for hours practicing as a band. I have time to put a chart in front of the band and we're off! These recordings come from a 4 month period of practicing with the band"GQ" and playing a final live show before I moved away. In the end, I like how the recordings turned out unpolished and raw. Real music should be between real people in real time. And I feel so blessed and thankful for the result. The last two tracks are recordings produced by Niklas Peters and feature my guitar playing and a bunch of nice computer instruments. With all the technology we have today I am proud to be making live music with real instruments and I have made lifelong friends in the process. Not to say I have any problem with the last two tracks, I love it!If nothing else, this album stands as a strong example of something we seem to be loosing in our modern day society.
