专辑《The Butterfly Project, Chapter Two: The Butterfly Progression》 简介
........via email.........Hi Sandy, sorry for the delay. I had a listen to the songs a couple of weeks ago and really liked them, such a variety of sound and style there. I was also impressed with how much detail you have available on the CD Baby site.I hope you are well and staying busy with your various projects. Have fun,SimonThe Butterfly Progression Production NotesFor You (Bossa #2)Stan Huston plays fretless bass, improvising his own parts. I play the Lofquist nylon string guitar, Mordillo sides and back Englemann spruce top, D’Addario strings. (standard tuning) This is the only song that I Recorded , Mixed and Produced for this CD.tutu ‘Uaki Ki ho’alu (The Gradfather Clock Slack Key)Andy recorded the clock…….so perfectly! Two guitars were used ; my Lofquist nylon string w/ Aquila “nil-gut” strings and my 1996 50th Anniversary (of the founding of the Fender Music Instruments Co) Telecaster in a Nashville “high strung” tuning using D’Addario special “high tuning” strings (open ‘G’ tuning)……………………….wait for it……………………. yes, I wanted to use a 12-string guitar, but couldn’t strike both strings consistently; so…………………………… Alone Isn’t LonelyThis one is in a Dm open tuning. It is the story of enjoying being alone, some of us like that. I hope that Andy’s production enhances the imagery for you. I used the Lofquist OOO with Martin SP phosphor bronze .012-.054 strings. The Crowded HourThis one is peculiar as the concept of a “crowded hour” is expressed in a poem from a British cavalryman in 1791 (a copy of the poem is included in the “enhanced” portion of the CD as are all the lyrics). The “Butterfly Guitar” (constructed by Kenneth Scott Lofquist with hand cut pearl butterflies inlaid all about his “New Western Jumbo” with Brasilian Satinwood sides and back and Sitka Spruce top) in a Gm open tuning is used for this song. Software instruments from Native Instruments are used by Andy as accents.Terminal MorningAndy thought there needed to be a segue between ‘The Crowded Hour’ and ‘Available Light’ to better balance the transition; so he wrote this ! ………..and it’s a humdinger, if I do say so myself.Available LightOkay, here we go…………. Dick Ramada of ‘Dick and the Chicks’ plays electric guitar, composing his own parts. I composed and programmed the drums and the mellotron. I also played electric bass (A 1966 Slab-Body Fender Precision Bass reproduction w/ Lollar pickups) acoustic guitar (1995 Gibson Dove with NOS Gibson strings, set No. 840, acoustic guitar Silver-Plated Wound Light Guage made in U. S. A. Kalamazoo, Mich. ‘in the orange box’) and vocals, of course.Andrew J. Anthony recorded and produced all the songs except, “For You (Bossa#2)”Apple’s GarageBand was used to record and mix the song, “For You(Bossa #2)”Apple’s Logic Pro X was used for all othersNative Instruments software was used throughout.C.
