Up and Down is a state of mind, one that has existed since as long as music and melodies were written. Up and Down is a back-and-forth movement that life keeps pushing us through, and the music of Up and Down reflects this, seamlessly weaving themes in and out of songs, resulting in this, their first concept album, one which is more of an artistic whole than simply a collection of individual, stand-alone songs. However, while Up and Down try to make a coherent, unified sound that shifts back and forth from one track to the next, individual songs all function on their own, showcasing a different mood, often inspired by seasonal times of year, situations, or musical influences. Up and Down was formed in 2014 by a group of musicians and artists who finished their studies in Berlin, each bringing their unique musical and creative tastes (rhythm and blues, conceptual art, classical music, and sound recording technique) to bear on this debut collaboration.
