Brooke Vitale Dixon:The 3 musicians setup up in Eric’s friend Dee’s art studio to spontaneously write and record. Engineer Trevor Meyer captured the sessions. Brooke had some guitar ideas and soon the creative juices were flowing. The “old school” way of recording (in a garage, performing together live) provided great energy that carried to the songs. The album was recorded in 5 days. The vocals and additional guitars were recorded by Brooke at his home studio. Meet BVD:Don Dixon is a vocalist, multi instrumentalist, songwriter and producer. He is considered to be one of the key producers of what is called the jangle pop movement of the early 1980s. Around 1983, Dixon attracted attention by co-producing with Mitch Easter, R.E.M.’s landmark debut LP Murmur. He then spent several years producing the work of varied artists including Chris Stamey (formerly of The dB’s) and The Smithereens. Considered to be a highlight of this period was Tommy Keene’s Run Now EP (co-produced with T Bone Burnett). This success led to Dixon recording his solo debut Most of the Girls Like to Dance (But Only Some of the Boys Like To), a further affirmation of his love of classic pop melodies and spiky, Nick Lowe-inspired wordplay. After producing wife Marti Jones’ Unsophisticated Time, he released his second solo effort, Romeo at Juilliard, in 1987 and the live Chi-Town Budget Show a year later. Besides his life as a musician and producer, Don launched an acting career playing an alcoholic director in Todd Graff’s 2003 film Camp. Dixon’s writing, production and session credits include Kim Carnes, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Joe Cocker, Counting Crows, Marshall Crenshaw, Hootie and the Blowfish, Marti Jones, REM, The Smithereens, Ronnie Spector, Matthew Sweet and dozens more.Joe Vitale primarily known as a drummer but is also a flautist, keyboardist and vocalist. He has played with many of the top names in music during a career dating back to the 1970s He started his career with the Canton, Ohio band The Chylds. His first national break came when Ted Nugent hired him to play drums in the Amboy Dukes in 1971. That fall Vitale was invited by his former Kent State classmate Joe Walsh to join Barnstorm. Vitale was the temporary original drummer for the Michael Stanley Band. He recorded his first solo album 1974’s Roller Coaster Weekend, produced by Ron & Howard Albert, with guitar solos contributed by Walsh, Rick Derringer and Phil Keaggy. He then joined the Stills-Young Band for the Long May You Run sessions. Later, Vitale would be one of the musicians that Crosby, Stills & Nash record and tour with beginning with the CSN album and continuing to the present day. He has also co-produced and contributed songs to Crosby, Stills & Nash as well as to solo efforts by Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. Vitale’s longtime friend Joe Walsh became part of the Eagles and Vitale became part of the Eagles’ road band on drums and keyboards, appearing on 1980’s Eagles Live. The Walsh/Vitale song “Pretty Maids All in a Row” appears on the Eagles’ album Hotel California. He continued to appear on Walsh solo albums in the early 1990s.Among other artists with whom Vitale has appeared are Dan Fogelberg, Peter Frampton, John Entwistle, Zakk Wylde (Book of Shadows) and Buffalo Springfield.Eric Brooke is a vocalist, multi instrumentalist, songwriter and producer. He has shared the bill with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Quiet Riot, 7 Mary 3, Night Ranger, Mountain, Eddie Money, Michael Stanley, Starship, Donnie Iris, Silvertide, Black Oak Arkansas, Eddie Money, Bullet Boys, David Allan Coe, Foghat, Kip Winger, Slaughter and Blue Oyster Cult. Eric has performed 200+ live shows per year for 10 years running. He is considered one of the hardest working entertainers in the music business. He has written recorded 8 full length albums, either solo or with the Eric Brooke Band. Eric’s onstage showmanship has been enjoyed for decades by fans across the United States.
