Motherwell Johnston will live on in our hearts an memory for years to come. We pay homage to him. Written by C. Gibbs after living with Motherwell in Darby, Montana for a few months. Surrounded by cross bows , gun racks and a wood pellet stove just west of the Rocky Mountains in an isolated cabin, gibbs would often hear the hermetic and reclusive Motherwell ruminate on his surroundings and peppered past life. Though not necessarily a storyteller of the linear fashion , his recollections were fascinating affairs that startled Gibbs and though it was never known if said recollections were from direct experiences or a culmination of imagined escapades , gibbs nonetheless drew inspiration from the iconic caretaker of the Darby Cabin that belonged to his father. Back in NYC Gibbs assembled an elites echelon of Musicians : Tim Kuhl ( Ghost of The Sabertooth Tiger, St . Helena) on drums, Phil Sterk (St. Helena, The Rough Gems, The Woes) on pedal steel, and Matt Brandau ( The Old Ceremony) on bass.Retreating to Grand Street Recording they came up with the Motherwell Johnston album
