‘Rhetoric’ is modern chamber music. ‘Rhetoric’s’ production differs from traditional chamber for being home-recorded. The chords and melody were performed on a Yamaha PSR-E343 using a Samson speaker. The tracks hover at over two minutes and evolve over three or more parts per track. The majority of the melodies are wind, the chords: piano, harpsichord and something called ‘Harp Vox’. The album lasts a little over 30 minutes, which is about as long as one can expect to follow a chamber album, even one which lasts double that. There is only one artist in ‘Rhetoric’, taking up composition, performance, recording, publishing and the album art which features a drawing of a lantern. The artist has listened to nothing but instrumental recordings for ten months at the time of ‘Rhetoric’, stood off television and given up movies. The album ‘Rhetoric’ is purer chamber music as a result of the artist’s lifestyle. This chamber music album’s artist is presenting something which he would be glad to obtain himself, listen to and feel confident in its effect on one’s life; something which he believes chamber music in general has an ability to accomplish.
