This collection of music has grown out of our journey - together and as individuals. Of course, the journey continues so more songs will pour out of our experiences, I'm sure. This album was inspired by many things: the need that I have to share what I have learned and experienced, how my trust and faith have brought me to choose joy in my life, and by the request to write a song for a women's retreat."You Save Me" was written for Transformed Revived Renewed Ministries and for the"Superwoman is Frazzled" retreat that was created by the leader of this ministry. As I thought of all the ways women are pulled in so many directions, the words"please save me" kept running through my mind. I was a single mom for a few years, I went through the anguish of wondering why my prayers weren't being answered - and I poured these feelings into this song. The first time I played it for the ministry team, my first rough version, the whole team was in tears. At the retreat, I was told the song spoke to the hearts of the women attending the retreat. Song writing is a wonderful way to heal!"Sweetie Pie" was originally supposed to be a lullaby, but once I put the lyrics to music, well, it won't put you to sleep! When I sang the song for my husband the first time, he said,"Oh, that can't be a kids's song, that has to be a song WE do!" We joke that he thought it was about him, and he has claimed it as his song! We have performed it so many times, in so many venues in our area that we almost have a cult following with this song! It is always requested and it is a song writer's greatest joy to see the crowd singing along to their song! The song"I'm Here" was inspired by not only my own experiences but those of a young woman who I love dearly and have watched struggle. It was also inspired by people I have seen along the streets, needing help because of what life has dealt them. When I was at my lowest time, thinking that no one was listening, I heard God's voice saying,"I'm here, I have been here all along." My dream is that this song will show those who are searching and waiting that He is right beside them!"Don't Take My Son" has also become a favorite with our fans. I wrote this song for an Easter show that we were doing with a 5 piece Christian rock band we are members of. As I thought of the Easter story, my mind went immediately to Mary and how hard it must have been for her to watch her son go to the cross. She knew he was the son of God and needed to fulfill his purpose, but she was his mom! We sang this song at a church service one day and afterwards a mother came up to me with tears in her eyes and said she had just lost her son. At first I felt that maybe we shouldn't have performed that song, but she thanked me, saying that it was exactly what she had needed! The good news is that the story doesn't end with the cross because He rose! And that gives us the comfort that we can grieve, but also rejoice in knowing that someday we will spend eternity with those we have lost."Remember" is a song that was inspired after I attended a funeral and listened to the wonderful stories of how this person had affected the lives of those they loved. It made me wonder how I would be remembered. It serves as a challenge to myself and to those who listen, to think about that and make the effort to live a life that reflects the One who has done so much for us.The title song,"I Sing To You" was written for our praise team to learn. My husband and I have both been singers/musicians for most of our lives and have sung for many reasons. But for the last several years, we sing for Him, no matter where we are, because of all He has done for us!!!All of the songs have stories. Someday you can come sit on our porch and we will tell you the rest of the stories!
